General Conference–October 13, 2013

Our first general conference in the Fiji mission field. We watched general conference a week later than the rest of you, but we watched it in the same manner, sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

I enjoyed reading the email from Elder Sam Jackson and Elder Connor Parry on what talks they enjoyed most.

Sam mention President Eyring’s talk really touched him, as well as Elder Bednar’s talk on tithing.

Connor indicted he liked President’s Uchdorf’s talk on why people would want to join our church.  I loved it when he said that twice a year you get to listen to 10 hours of talks.

Julie Skyped us and said President Monson’s talk on Sunday morning was her favorite.  This was where he talked about losing his wonderful wife.

Dew’s favorite was Elder Holland talking on mental illness and depression.

Shirl’s favorite was also President Monson’s talk on Sunday morning.

We all have different favorites for different reasons.

  1. It's great to read your blog and follow the many wonderful social, physical, and spiritual events that you have. Conference was wonderful. We worked all the sessions. Our teams are on the Plaza level through December.

I loved President Uchdorf's talk and President Monson's talks. Betti and I recorded them and we have been watching them at home since we are so busy during the events with our calling there.

The ward continues to grow. Sunset Park is rapidly filling up. Units are selling quickly. A new subdivision is opening behind the Riley's. We are still waiting to see where we will go to church in January. No official word on splitting the ward.

Betti and I continue to serve in SLC and the Young Men keep me young, but as Mel Walker related in his Stake Conference talk you can't retire from the church until you are 6 feet under.

We appreciate the example you are to us and others. May you be blessed each day!
